WHO IS PATRICK KAVANAGH ?
Patrick Kavanagh was one of Ireland’s most controversial and colorful literary figures, a favoured poet with rural origins in Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan. Kavanagh’s reputation as a poet is based on the lyrical quality of his work, his mastery of language and form and his ability to transform the ordinary into something of significance .
WHAT IS KAVANAGH DAY?
Kavanagh Day is an annual event that brings poets, musicians and storytellers together with the common purpose of commemorating the life and works of Irish writer, Patrick Kavanagh. The Kavanagh Days in Galway have become an annual fixture in the local literary, artistic calender, successfully bringing writers and performers together by providing a platform for different types of creative and inquisitive minds in the same physical space.

WHEN & WHERE?
The 2014 Galway event takes place on Saturday 5th July in the Salthill Hotel, Galway , 7pm . It returns for the Galway Fringe Festival and takes place in the Harbour Hotel, Dock Road on Saturday 19th July, 4pm
